Randal McCravy was born February 9, 1960 in Louisville, KY. He was the second child to Elsie and Newton McCravy, Jr.
He attended Christ the King Grade School and Trinity High School, graduating with honors in Spring of 1978. He played football while there at Trinity. He then attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, graduating in 1982. Following graduation, he worked in Cincinnati, OH as a social worker for many years. He returned to Louisville and became caretaker for his father and mother while working various jobs and volunteering at the Ky. Humane Society. He retired from Kroger in 2022.
Randal loved sports! He was an avid U of L and Minnesota Vikings fan and loved NFL Red Zone (so he wouldn’t miss any of his games). He loved trivia and could challenge any Jeopardy player if he had the opportunity. Randal’s other big love was family, and he shared a special bond with his nieces! They loved him just as much! His bond carried over to the next generation. It was not uncommon on a Sunday afternoon when family was in town to find him playing until the time came for them to leave.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodriq McCravy, and father, Newton McCravy, Jr.
Randal left this earth on Friday, November 29, 2024. He is survived by his mother, Elsie McCravy, his brother, Newton III (Christie), his sister, Natonia Elery (Philip); three nieces, Taryn Neal (Byron Jr.), Andria Wilkerson (Andre, Sr.), and Rena Marie Elery; one great-niece and three great-nephews: and a host of cousins and friends. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
